ATLASSIAN
(We can't believe we need to say this, but...) Climate change is caused by humans, and without immediate intervention, it will fundamentally disrupt the environment, society, and the economy in very painful ways. Working together, the private sector, public sector, and citizens must play as a team and take bold action. As part of our commitment to combat climate change, we've set a goal to run our direct operations on 100% renewable energy by 2025 and to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. We are also focusing on incremental steps that reduce our impact and inspire Atlassians and companies alike to act.
Collaboration
At Atlassian, we have a commitment to being open and working as a team. That’s why we’ve joined collaborative initiatives like RE100 and the Business Ambition for 1.5 campaign. In setting goals that align with larger strategic initiatives, we hope to learn from others and contribute what we learn along the way.
Atlassians
In the lead up to Climate Week 2019, Atlassians started a grassroots movement to support our climate goals. This campaign included participation in the Global Climate Strike on September 20 across almost all of our offices – initiated by Atlassians and then endorsed by our leadership team. In offices with or without a strike, Atlassians also organized volunteer activities focused on climate and film screenings of documentaries about climate change to educate and inspire action.
Impact
Atlassian set its first climate goals in April 2019 and has achieved 15% renewable energy as of August 2019. For our direct operations, Atlassian is focused on both energy reduction initiatives and procuring renewable energy. With our new Science Based Target commitment, we’ll also be looking at indirect emissions, including travel.
More than anything, we hope to show leadership and inspire both Atlassians and other companies to join together in an effort to decarbonize and transition to renewable energy.
